Seattle University, founded in 1891, is a Jesuit Catholic university and law school located on 50 acres in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood. More than 7,400 students are enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs within eight schools and colleges.

Seattle University

Seattle University is a private, Jesuit, Catholic university in Seattle, WA. It was established in 1891. Students can select from 64 undergraduate, 31 graduate and 28 certificate programs. The school sponsors study abroad programs in places like Austria, China, Denmark and Ghana. Seattle University makes a strong commitment to community service—students and faculty contribute around 200,000 hours each year. Approximately 75% of students engage in service-- triple the national average. The school has shown a dedication to sustainability: solar panels partially power two buildings, an on-campus facility composts over 178,000 pounds each year and two community gardens allow students and faculty to grown their own food. The university boasts over 67,000 living alumni spread across all 50 states and approximately 77 countries. Seattle University’s varsity athletic teams compete in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) at the NCAA Division I level. The school’s mascot is Rudy the Redhawk.

Pitzer College Education

The College believes it is mastery of a subject that makes informed, independent judgments and so requires students to complete a major. Prior to midterm of the second semester of sophomore year, students will choose an adviser in the field of their selected major and begin discussions regarding the major. Students must complete a Major/Educational Objectives form that is signed by the major adviser of record and submit it to the Registrar’s Office no later than midterm of the first semester of junior year. New students with a minimum of junior class standing will have an additional semester to submit the major declaration form. A substantial part of the junior and senior years will be devoted to the major program. At Pitzer College, field groups (similar to a discipline or department) organize major requirements and courses. Students may choose existing majors at the other Claremont Colleges provided that the fields are not offered as majors at Pitzer.

Pitzer College

Pitzer College is a private liberal arts college in Claremont, CA. Founded in 1963 as a liberal arts school for women, it is one of The Claremont Colleges, a consortium of schools in the Claremont area. The schools are independent, yet they share some facilities and resources. Pitzer students can select from over 40 majors and may enroll in courses at the other four undergraduate Claremont Colleges. Pitzer is consistently one of the leading Fulbright feeder schools in the U.S. The campus is home to numerous student organizations, ranging from Badminton Club to Tutors for a Cause. The Kohoutek Music and Arts Festival, a student-run multiple day outdoor festival, has been a campus tradition since 1974. Renovations to the Gold Student Center, including the creation of more space for student organizations and an expansion of the fitness room, are new for 2014. Pitzer and Pomona College, another Claremont College, combine for intercollegiate sports. The Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens compete in Division III athletics.
